New Year, New Plans

Out with the old, in with the new - the excitement, the uncertainty; what will the next 12 months bring?

Nobody could have guessed 2020 correctly and few will be able to predict how 2021 will pan out, but even in the current environment of living in one of four (five?) tiers, there's no reason not to have something to look forward to. If anything, it's more important than ever to get something in the diary, even if it gets crossed out the week before it's due to happen - we all need something to look forward to, just to keep our spirits up.
In December 2019, we gave ourselves the task of coming up with four travel options in each of four categories: UK, city break, short haul and long haul. We agreed that, if any of our options matched, we would go on that holiday in 2020. If there were no matches, we'd put the options in the hat and draw one at random and go there instead. By the end of January we had most things booked or roughly knew when we were going. By the end of March everything was on hold.
But even with Coronavirus running unchecked across the globe we were still lucky enough to get away to Cornwall and Greece, and we have South Africa booked for March 2021.
But what to do this year? We love getting out and exploring so this time, with tour operators unable to guarantee their own existence (sadly too many have fallen by the wayside in the last 12 months) we've changed the theme ever-so-slightly...

We will do the draw on New Year's Eve, as we did last year, but this time we have to come up with two options in these categories; UK day trip, London activities, Leicestershire activities and "experiences".
We live in Leicestershire and go to London more than most cities so it's making us think about what's on our own doorstep and what don't we do when we go to London (yes, I know there's A LOT to do in London and we'd never have the time to do everything).
Day trips have to be just that - a day trip - so we're limited to within three hours. Hopefully, in won't be much longer until the tier-system is a thing of the past and we can travel freely again. All fingers and toes are crossed.
Experiences don't have to be "bucket list" types, just things that we perhaps wouldn't normally do that's a little different or need a bit more thought and planning to arrange.
