We’re going on our holidays!

Rosie and I moved in together right at the start of the first lockdown – when Boris announced we were going into lockdown with immediate effect, I packed some bags, jumped in the car and headed to Rosie’s. I only ever went back either to pick up a few bits and pieces or to eventually move out completely.

With the financial savings that living together brought we decided to book an amazing holiday to South Africa for the following year as part of our 40th birthday celebrations. Time went on and it became clear we weren’t going anywhere in March 2021 as planned so we delayed the trip to January 2022. Now the payment date for that arrived and, even though South Africa is no longer on a red list for the UK, the vaccine roll-out is sluggish, the civil unrest seems to pick up from time to time and we just don’t know how free we’ll be to move around once we get there. It would be an expensive trip to find out we can’t do a great deal when we arrive.

And so, for our first proper holiday in over a year (we managed a quick trip to Greece last year in-between the various lockdowns) we’re off to Mexico! I’ve never been but Rosie has but she doesn’t care because at this point all we care about is getting away and having some meaningful time off work to relax and enjoy ourselves. Plus we’re already missing the sunshine!

We’re really excited and absolutely CANNOT WAIT to go, which has absolutely nothing to do with having a cheeky cocktail far earlier in the day that would normally be acceptable!
